I would like to tell you about the story, happened to me 5 years ago. I am not crazy. I hope you will believe me.
It was cold winter and I was really happy about leaving the school, because Christmas holidays has already begun. My name is Edgar, I"m 16 years old, studying in common russian school. I do not have a lot of friends, because I do not like having fun and talking to somebody, if you are interested in my biography.
I had a best friend, called Mark. He was the same age as me and did not have friends, except me. All night long we were spending time, talking and reading horror books. It was awesome and very creepy. I had the same interests as my friend, so we liked the same stories. But one of them was my favorite, because there was an interesting and mysterious thing that i spot. It was the shortest book I have ever read, which contained only 5 pages but sixth was torn away. We had found this book in the old small library and had stolen it away. Me and my friend are not the thiefs, by way, but we really needed it to Study and find out what riddle was hidden in that strange book, written by the unknown author. So, our story began.
Having read that book incompletely, we realized that all events happened in our town! It describes about the old abandoned clinic that settled in the woods. We needed more information.
2 weeks ago, after studying it attentively and searching huge amount of information on the internet, we puzzled out where is that old building situated. My friend has written down the coordinates quickly and we went in the forest.
Unluckily, our small "group" has reached the hospital when it began to dusk. I saw many broken windows and dirty things. Allin all it was very horribly. We went down the stairs in the catacombs and decided to split.
I really regret about that decision. After 15 minutes I have spent in the dark I began to call my friend. Nobody answered. One more 10 minutes passed that I spend, walking and turning in a different directions. Suddenly I stunned. I do not know what exactly I saw till nowadays. There was a creature straight ahead from me, which has been sitting, shaking hands and eating something. I decided to silently go away but after he spot me, I ran away at once. I had been running till I reached my house.
At conclusion, I want to say that of course, nobody believed me, even my parents. I have not seen my friend 3 years already and I did not go to the forest and will not go there anyway.

У меня был лучший друг, которого зовут Марк. Он был того же возраста, что и я, и у него не было друзей, кроме меня. Всю ночь мы проводили время, разговаривая и читая страшные книги. Это было потрясающе и очень жутко. У меня были те же интересы, что и у моего друга, так что нам нравились одни и те же истории. Но одна из них была моей любимой, потому что в ней была интересная и таинственная вещь, которую я обнаружил. Это была самая короткая книга, которую я когда-либо читал, в которой содержалось всего 5 страниц, но шестая была оторвана. Мы нашли эту книгу в старой небольшой библиотеке и украли ее. Мы не воры, если что, но нам действительно нужно было изучить и понять, что за загадка была спрятана в этой странной книге, написанной неизвестным автором. Итак, наша история началась.
Прочитав эту книгу полностью, мы поняли, что все события произошли в нашем городе! Она описывает старую заброшенную клинику, которая располагалась в лесу. Нам нужно было больше информации.
2 недели назад, после внимательного изучения и поиска огромного количества информации в Интернете, мы поняли где расположено это старое здание. Мой друг быстро записал координаты, и мы пошли в лес.
К несчастью, наша маленькая «группа» достигла больницу, когда начало смеркаться. Я увидел множество разбитых окон и грязные вещи. В целом все это выглядело очень ужасно. Мы спустились по лестнице в катакомбы и решили разделиться.
Я действительно сожалею об этом решении. После 15 минут, которые я провел в темноте я начал звать моего друга. Никто не ответил. Прошло еще 10 минут, что я потратил, идя и поворачивая в разных направлениях. Вдруг я замер. Я до сих пор не знаю что я там увидел. Там было существо прямо от меня, которое сидело, шевелило руками и ело что-то. Я решил молча уйти, но после того как он заметил меня, я сразу убежал. Я бежал, пока я достиг моего дома.
В заключение я хочу сказать, что, конечно, никто не поверил мне, даже мои родители. Я не видел своего друга уже 3 года и я больше не ходил в лес и не пойду туда в любом случае.
Приближается Хэллоуин, а значит самое время начинать читать страшные истории про духов, привидения и призраков. Сегодня предлагаем прочитать легенду о происхождении тыквы-фонаря, самого главного атрибута праздника. Эту тыкву-фонарь еще называют фонарь Джека. Кстати, первоначально словом Jack-o-Lantren называли блуждающие огни на болотах (ignis fatuus) . По мере приближения к ним они отдалялись, и ходило поверье, что это души отвергнутых у врат ада скитаются по земле в поисках пристанища, освещая себе дорогу тыквой, в которой лежит кусок угля от адского пламени.

An Irish Legend about Jack-o-Lantern (Легенда о тыкве-фонаре)
According to an Irish tale, an old man named Jack was scurrying home along a country road when the devil suddenly appeared beside him. Jack knew the devil had come to claim his soul, for he had been a stingy, mean, and selfish man. As the two walked along, they came to a tree heavy with big, red apples.
«Wouldn’t an apple taste good right now?» Jack suggested to the devil.
«They’re fine looking apples, for sure,» said the devil. «But they all grow too high for me to reach.»
«Then stand on my shoulders.» Jack said. «Surely you’ll be able to reach them, then.»
So the devil climbed up onto Jack’s shoulders, swung himself onto a branch of the tree, and began picking the biggest, the reddest fruit he could find. Suddenly, Jack whipped out his pocket knife and carved the sign of the cross on the tree trunk. That made it impossible lor the devil to climb down out of the tree.
«Get me down from here,» cried the devil, «and I won’t claim your soul for ten years!»
But Jack was far too smart to fall for that. «I’ll let you down only if you promise NEVER to claim my soul,» he said. And the devil, desperate to get down, agreed.
But Jack wasn’t as smart as he thought he was. Before the next Halloween, his body wore out, and his soul needed a place to rest. He was turned back from the gates of heaven because of his stingy, mean ways on earth. When he got to hell, the devil shouted, «Go away! You tricked me into promising I’d never claim your soul. I must keep my word. You cannot enter into hell!»
«But where then shall I go?» Jack asked.
«Back from where you came,» the devil replied.
«I’ll never find my way back to earth in the dark,» Jack cried. So the devil threw him a chunk of coal from the very furnaces of hell. Jack caught the glowing ember and placed it inside a turnip he was gnawing on. He has been wandering around the earth with this first jack-o’-lantern in search of a resting place ever since!

My Daughter Learned to Count
My daughter woke me around 11:50 last night. My wife and I had picked her up from her friend Sally’s birthday party, brought her home, and put her to bed. My wife went into the bedroom to read while I fell asleep watching the Braves game.
“Daddy,” she whispered, tugging my shirt sleeve. “Guess how old I’m going to be next month.”
“I don’t know, beauty,” I said as I slipped on my glasses. “How old?”
She smiled and held up four fingers.
He Stood Against My Window
I don’t know why I looked up, but when I did I saw him there. He stood against my window. His forehead rested against the glass, and his eyes were still and light and he smiled a lipstick-red, cartoonish grin. And he just stood there in the window. My wife was upstairs sleeping, my son was in his crib and I couldn’t move. I froze and watched him looking at me through the glass.
Oh, please, no. His smile never moved but he put a hand up and slid it down the glass watching me. With matted hair and yellow skin and face through the window.
Don’t be scared of the monsters, just look for them. Look to your left, to your right, under your bed, behind your dresser, in your closet but never look up, she hates being seen.
What’s in the basement?
Mommy told me never to go into the basement, but I wanted to see what was making that noise. It kind of sounded like a puppy, and I wanted to see the puppy, so I opened the basement door and tiptoed down a bit. I didn’t see a puppy, and then Mommy yanked me out of the basement and yelled at me. Mommy had never yelled at me before, and it made me sad and I cried. Then Mommy told me never to go into the basement again, and she gave me a cookie. That made me feel better, so I didn’t ask her why the boy in the basement was making noises like a puppy, or why he had no hands or feet.
“Yeeeeeeeees?“
When I was a child my family moved into a big old two-floor house, with big empty rooms and creaking floorboards. Both my parents worked so I was often alone when I came home from school. One early evening when I came home the house was still dark.
I called out, “Mum?” and heard her sing song voice say “Yeeeeees?” from upstairs. I called her again as I climbed the stairs to see which room she was in, and again got the same “Yeeeeees?” reply. We were decorating at the time, and I didn’t know my way around the maze of rooms but she was in one of the far ones, right down the hall. I felt uneasy, but I figured that was only natural so I rushed forward to see my mum, knowing that her presence would calm my fears, as a mother’s presence always does.
Just as I reached for the handle of the door to let myself in to the room I heard the front door downstairs open and my mother call “Sweetie, are you home?” in a cheery voice. I jumped back, startled and ran down the stairs to her, but as I glanced back from the top of the stairs, the door to the room slowly opened a crack. For a brief moment, I saw something strange in there, and I don’t know what it was, but it was staring at me.
All I saw was red
I checked into a small hotel. It was late and I was tired. I told the woman at desk that I wanted a room. She gave me the key and said, “One more thing - there is one room without a number on your floor and it is always locked. Don’t even peek in there.” I took the key, went into my room and tried to sleep. Night came and I heard trickling of water. I could not sleep, so I opened my door and went into the hall. The sound was coming from the room with no number. I pounded on the door. No response. I looked into the keyhole and saw nothing except red. Water was still trickling. I went down to the front desk to complain. “By the way who is in that room?” She looked at me and told me the story. There was woman in there. She was murdered by her husband. Her skin was all white, except for her eyes, which were red.

показалось что в моей комнате есть кто-то кроме меня. Я открыл глаза и увидел у
окна тень. Она была очень высокая, худая и протягивала ко мне руки. Мне стало
страшно и я закричал так громко как только мог. Я сидел на кровати и кричал.
Вдруг в комнату вбежали мои родители. Они были очень напуганы. Папа включил
свет, и я перестал кричать. Оказывается, днем мама принесла из зала в мою
комнату огромную пальму в большом горшке и поставила ее за штору. Ночью была
полная луна и мне показалось, что это женщина... Мне никогда не было так
страшно как в ту ночь......
I would like to tell you a horrible story. One night it seemed to me
that there was someone besides me in my room. I opened my eyes and saw a
woman"s shade at the window . She was very tall, thin and she stretched out her
arms to me. I was scared and I screamed so loud as I could. I was sitting on
the bed and crying. Suddenly my parents ran into my room. They were very
frightened. Dad turned on the light, and I stopped screaming. It turned out
that in the afternoon, my mother brought a huge palm tree in a large pot from
the hall into my room and she put it behind the curtains. That night there was
full moon, and it seemed to me that it was a woman... I have never been so bad as that night......

Здравствуйте всем! Вы когда-нибудь пытались рассказывать какую-нибудь историю на английском? Ставлю на то, что да! Когда Вы просто разговариваете со своим другом например, конечно же Вы хотите рассказать ему о том, что случилось с Вами и что нового в Вашей жизни. Это вполне естественно, и мы делаем это каждый раз, когда говорим с людьми.
В этой статье я бы хотел рассказать Вам небольшую историю, просто выдумать что-нибудь для Вас. И потом мы вместе посмотрим на некоторые интересные моменты и фразы, которые я буду использовать.
История на английском языке.
Итак, вот эта история:
«Other day I went to the cinema. I had plenty of time till the next train home. So I made up my mind to watch that new movie by Quentin Tarantino which was called «Django Unchained». To be honest , I’m not a big fan of westerns, but I’m crazy about all the Tarantino’s movies! So I just couldn’t miss it! What’s more , I had so much free time that I could watch even two movies!
When I came to the cinema it turned out they didn’t have the tickets for «Django Unchained». I was really upset. But it was not a surprise, because the cinema was so crowed and it was the premiere, so all the tickets had been bought away very quickly. So the only thing I could do was just to seat and wait for my train. I went to the nearest fast foodand had a bite there.
For some reason I decided to come back to the cinema and ask them one more time about tickets for «Django Unchained». Believe it or not , but they said that they really had the last ticket! The point was somebody had just returned his ticket, because he couldn’t watch the movie in that time. I was so glad! So that day I managed to watch «Django Unchained»! The movie was great, I liked that! After it finished I came back to the Railway Station and went home!
I was lucky that day for sure !»
«На днях я ходил в кинотеатр. У меня была масса времени до следующего поезда домой. Так что я решил посмотреть новое кино от Квентина Тарантино, которое называлось «Джанго Освобожденный». Честно говоря, я не большой фанат вестернов, но я без ума от фильмов Тарантино! Так что я просто не мог пропустить этого! Более того, у меня было столько времени, что я мог посмотреть даже два фильма.
Когда я пришел в кинотеатр, оказалось, что у них нет билетов на «Джанго Освобожденный». Я был реально расстроен. Но это было не удивительно, потому что кинотеатр был наполнен людьми, и это была премьера, так что все билеты были раскуплены очень быстро. Таким образом, единственное, что я мог сделать было просто сидеть и ждать свой поезд. Я пошел в ближайший фаст фуд и перекусил.
По какой-то причине, я решил вернуться в кинотеатр и еще раз спросить их про билеты. Хотите верьте, хотите нет, но у них действительно был один билет! Дело в том, что кто-то только что вернул свой билет, потому что не мог пойти на тот сеанс! Я был очень рад! Таким образом, мне удалось посмотреть «Джанго Освобожденный» в тот день! Фильм отличный, мне понравился! После того, как он закончился, я вернулся на вокзал и поехал домой!
Несомненно, в тот день мне повезло!»
Разговорные фразы из текста.
Не смотря на то, что из перевода и так уже понятен смысл выделенных фраз, я все же приведу еще несколько примеров с ними ниже:
Первая фраза — «other day» . Это означает «совсем недавно, один или два дня назад, на днях». Например:
Other day I passed the exam.
(На днях я сдал экзамен)
Other day I went to the bank.
(Недавно я ходил в банк)
«Plenty of time» . Это означает «иметь много времени». И не только времени. Например:
I had plenty of time to do that.
(У меня была масса времени)

(У меня очень много книг)
«I made up my mind» . Это означает «Я решил».
to make up smb mind — решать, принимать решение.

«To be honest». Фраза означает «Сказать по правде, честно говоря». Например:
To be honest, I don’t like you.

«To be crazy about something» означает сходить с ума по чему-то, реально обожать.

«What’s more». Фраза означает «более того, там более»:

«It turned out». Классная фраза, означает «Оказалось…»:

«To have a bite» означает «перекусить». Простая и хорошая фраза:

«I managed to…». Классная фраза, означает «мне удалось, у меня получилось»:

«For sure» — несомненно:
I like this game for sure.
(Несомненно, мне нравится эта игра)
For sure I’ll be there.
(Я несомненно там буду)
